VICTORY IN NORTH CAROLINA!!!
On June 15th, 2018 the North Carolina legislature approved legislation that will dramatically improve holistic health in that state. After months of tension and debate, this legislation has passed the legislature and is awaiting the Governor's signature.
This effort was a grand bargain between the Dietitians, our friends the Nutritionists at the Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists, and the holistic community, to open the door to better care, better outcomes, greater choice, and freedom to practice!
Specifically, a new exemption is created for the unlicensed practice of nutrition. This exemption says that anyone who provides "nutrition information, guidance, encouragement, individualized nutrition recommendations, or weight control services that do not constitute medical nutrition therapy," is exempt from the licensure law!
Stay tuned for an updated analysis on this new and wonderful development.
